The transition to a circular bioeconomy requires more than just local effort—it demands international collaboration and the exchange of proven practices. Following the conclusion of the second round of Cross-Fertilisation Meetings (CFMs), which were coordinated by FOCUS STC, the BBioNets project has successfully solidified a knowledge-sharing bridge between European regional networks.
These six specialised sessions served as a strategic bridge between the project’s regional Forest and Agriculture Networks (FANs), bringing together practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to scale up bio-based innovation across Europe.
The Mission: Beyond Regional Borders
While each region faces its own unique challenges, the core needs—biomass availability, exploitation potential, and the necessity for sustainable technology—are often shared. The CFM series was designed to:
Six Pillars of the Bioeconomy: Session Highlights
From late 2025 through the spring of 2026, the series covered a diverse spectrum of bio-based themes. Each meeting provided deep dives into specific value chains, with the presentations and video recordings available through the linked articles:

Moving from Analysis to Action
This series was built upon the project’s foundational outputs, including the High-level Study of Regional Dynamics and the BBTs Assessment Tool. By integrating these technical resources with the lived experience of farmers and foresters, the CFMs have moved the needle from theoretical research to actionable collaboration.
The conclusion of this round of meetings marks a significant step toward translating cross-border connections into more resilient, sustainable, and profitable bio-based practices for farms and forests throughout Europe.
