From Nature to Learning and Innovation

On Tuesday, 14 July 2026, ᴇNᴀBʟS’ Greek Living Lab successfully hosted the event “From Nature to Learning and Innovation” in Thessaloniki, Greece. As a key partner in the European eNaBlS project, FOCUS STC co-organised the event alongside iBO-CERTH and IDEA training, playing a central role both in the main programme and behind the scenes.

Driving Innovation & On-Site Media Production

Representing FOCUS STC on stage, our co-founder Iakovos Delioglanis delivered a key presentation detailing the overall framework of the ᴇNᴀBʟS project and presenting a comprehensive review of the ᴇNᴀBʟS-ACT actions. He highlighted how Living Labs serve as collaborative ecosystems where research, technical experts, and local communities connect to transform ideas into tangible societal impact.

In addition to the presentation, the FOCUS STC team was present on the ground throughout the day, managing the full event capture, conducting on-site interviews, and producing the official video recap.

Key Event Highlights

The event provided participants with an immersive, hands-on look at Nature-Based Solutions (NBS):

The Rainwater Management Pilot Garden: Attendees visited CERTH’s newly established pilot garden – a practical NBS application that collects and reuses rainwater run-off to directly irrigate a variety of edible plants.
Inclusive Urban Resilience: Experts from IDEA training presented strategies on green competencies (GreenComp) and emphasised the necessity of including the disabled community when designing accessible crisis plans.
Urban Flood Simulation: Moving into the garden, attendees participated in a dynamic role-playing scenario on urban flooding, stepping into the shoes of local authorities, residents, and accessibility advocates to design inclusive NBS strategies.
Cross-Project Synergies: The agenda showcased crucial links with other initiatives, such as the Waste4Soil project, highlighting how multi-project collaboration advances circular soil management and smart agriculture.
