On 26th-27th September 2024, FOCUS was in Vienna, Austria, for the 2nd Plenary Meeting of ᴇNᴀBʟS, hosted by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU). Partners gathered to discuss the progress of the project activities and outline the next steps concerning the formation of the 7 Living Labs (LLs) to mainstream biodiversity and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) in higher education institutions.
Day one began with opening remarks by the host, followed by an interactive session on the ᴇNᴀBʟS concepts. Questionnaires were distributed to assess the consortium’s NBS awareness level before and after the relevant discussions. In addition, representatives of the UPSURGE project were invited to present their activities which focus on integrating NBS into urban environments.
Day two laid the foundations for the ᴇNᴀBʟS Living Labs, with each LL representatives working collaboratively to refine their approaches, share concerns, and brainstorm on the target audiences of their LL. The afternoon sessions included presentations on the first results of the project, followed by pitches on integrating NBS into educational curricula and developing the ᴇNᴀBʟS online platform. FOCUS presented its progress on dissemination and communication activities, highlighting key achievements and strategies for the next phase, and wrapped up the meeting by addressing essential project management issues.
This meeting was an important milestone for the consortium, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of ᴇNᴀBʟS and laying the groundwork for future innovations in NBS education.
